For the first time since Autotrader began tracking the data, every single model in its top 10 fastest-selling used cars list is electrified — eight pure EVs and two petrol hybrids, with not a single traditional petrol or diesel car in sight.
According to Autotrader’s July 2026 figures, electric models accounted for eight of the top 10 spots, double the number recorded in July 2025, with two hybrids making up the rest. The MG ZS petrol hybrid took the top spot, selling in an average of just 13 days, while the Toyota Yaris hybrid closed out the list at 20 days. Meanwhile, no pure electric model appeared anywhere in the slowest-selling top 10, which was dominated by petrol and diesel cars.
The shift reflects a genuinely stronger used EV market rather than a one-off blip. Autotrader’s Retail Price Index shows used EV prices rose 1.6% year-on-year to £24,662 in July — the first annual price growth recorded since December 2022. Marc Palmer, the company’s head of strategy and insights, said the data points to demand “continuing to move in the right direction,” noting that previous EV interest spikes linked to short-term shocks like Middle East fuel price volatility now appear to be holding beyond those initial reactions.
The strongest performance is coming from three-to-five-year-old stock, where cars across all fuel types are selling in an average of 28 days — but EVs in that same age bracket are turning over in just 20 days, with prices now at parity with equivalent petrol models.
