DM News is getting loads of reports from all different drivers on how Manchester Airport is cracking down on many issues and banning some drivers from dropping off and picking up at the terminals.
Below are stories and things I have heard from other drivers across the UK:
One of the main issues we have heard is when someone picks up or drops off outside of the designated zones i.e on a roundabout or outside T2 west barriers, Manchester Airport blocks the car registration so they can not gain access into the barriers in the future, which can cause major problems if that is your job. The driver in question is a private hire operator and he picked up his customers outside of T2 because they walked out to meet him, next time he went to the airport for a pick up they wouldn’t allow him access through the barrier.
Another major issue is people with concession cards aka the discount for private hire drivers and taxis. If you break any of the rules around the airport they are banning you from having a concession card. One of the main reasons people are getting banned is for going into T2 overheight in a vehicle that is under 2 meters tall like a Mercedes V Class, if your car is truly less than 2 meters tall don’t go into T2 overheight and go to T2 West Pick Up Point.
One thing we don’t understand is people getting punished all the time yet T1 overheight is overrun by cars and small vehicles which is causing huge delays getting out of the pickup zone and so far Manchester Airport hasn’t even tried fixing the barrier by the looks of it, it has been like this for ages.
This post is just to make you aware to follow the rules and regulations around picking up and dropping off at Manchester Airport or you may find yourself getting into trouble or getting a fine.
