Police Appeal to Identify Man After Serious Assault on Taxi Driver in Lewes

Eastbourne Police have launched a public appeal to trace a man wanted in connection with a violent assault on a taxi driver in Lewes.

The incident happened shortly after midnight on Friday, 16 August 2025, when the victim – a man in his 50s – was attacked. He sustained serious injuries and required hospital treatment following the assault.

On Thursday, 2 October, police released an image of a man they wish to identify and speak to in relation to the investigation.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said:

“Despite extensive enquiries, we have been unable to trace the man and are now appealing for the public’s assistance to identify him. Do you recognise this man? Officers would like to speak to him in connection with a report of an assault on a taxi driver in Lewes.”

Public urged to help

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

  • If you recognise the man, or have details that may help the investigation, you are asked to contact Sussex Police online or by calling 101, quoting serial 19 of 16/08.
  • Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
